PET SCAN/METASTASIS: It is very sensitive test, more sensitive than other imaging and helps in staging the cancer.

Renal is difficult: There is great variability of FDG uptake by renal cell cancers. The most significant issue is the large amount of urinary excretion of 18f-fdg, which can easily mask a tumor in the kidney. This limitation may be overcome with the administration of Furosemide after FDG injection. The sensitivity of FDG pet for nodal metastatic disease is about 75% and declines to 50% after chemotherapy.
