Probably nothing: Unless you have a problem urinating with privacy, you are normal. This is thought due to simple anxiety related to the circumstances such as exposing oneself where others might see. The main point i can make is this is an extremely normal occurance and usually means nothing. If you are greatly distressed by this, see a physician.

Paruresis.: Paruresis is the avoidance of, or the inability to use the toilet in the presence of others. It is listed in the dsm-iv, the classification manual used by psychiatrists, as a social phobia. This can be a serious condition & an issue in cases of employer-based urine drug screening. For those who experience significant anxiety, treatments such as cognitive-behavioral therapy & support groups exist.

See answer: If your symptoms are of relatively acute onset, one needs to consider a possible UTI or prostatitis (non-bacterial most commonly). If they have been going on for a while, most likely related to a combination of overactive bladder and obstruction from the bladder neck or prostate (former more common given your age of 44). Recommend see a urologist to get an accurate diagnosis.

Urine check: certain proteins will cause a film to float to the surface of toilet water. This is not oilo and is considered normal. For peace of mind- have urine checked by your physician.

A 44-year-old female asked:
I keep having dreams where I am sitting on the toilet and I start to pee, literally. What can I do?

Dr. Lynne Weixel answered

Dreams: It was long ago, but that happened to me and fortunately it was only being chronically over-tired. Till you get a solution, consider adult diapers at night. Think about your overall exhaustion level and have a good exam to rule out UTI issues or other urine conditions. Once you know you are healthy, look into diet/exercise, timing of fluid intake and general sleep health.

Here are some...: The scenario of how you peed could be normal for you if you have been peeing with a steady continual flow, feeling an emptying bladder, and having no recurrence. If not as depicted, seek evaluation and counseling by following instructions described in articles listed on http://formefirst.com/onBPH-LUTS-VoidingTrouble.html. Thereby you can work well with doc so to reach right diagnosis/care.

See MD: A number of conditions, would get a urine test and see family practice. Urinary tract infections and diabetes are common causes of frequent urination.

Agree with the above. You also may have a bladder condition (e.g., overactive bladder, etc.). If your tests for diabetes and UTI are NEG, I would recommend being evaluated by a Urologist.
