What is the difference between a general practicioner and a family doctor?

Amount of training: Gp's are doctors who have completed on year of training after medical school (the internship or intern year), and then pass the national boards. Family medicine doctors complete 3 years of training after medical school, pass the national boards and the family medicine 'specialty boards' similarly, internists do 3 years of training in internal medicine, and pass nat'l boards + the int med boards.
