Yes: With reconstructive surgery, curved (scoliotic) spines can be corrected. The correction may not necessarily be perfectly straight, but with good attention to spinal balance the results are often quite satisfactory.

Possible: If occurring in the neck, it is usually related to muscle action either related to a strain or a disc herniation. Sometimes degenerative changes or spinal stenosis will cause this to occur. If the curve is a scoliosis, most times it does not need correction unless it is of a certain size or due to a cause like a tumor or infection.
