Depends.: Twin pregnancies are definitely high risk for complications to all involved. If one had a choice, one would not choose to have anything but a singleton pregnancy at a time. That said, most twin pregnancies have great outcomes (double trouble!) under the care of competent maternal-fetal medicine specialists.

?: Twins occur in about 1 in 90 pregnancies and may be monozygotic or dizygotic. Twins are more likely to be born prematurely than singleton pregnancies. Dizygotic twins have fewer complications and than monozygotic twins.
