Rare complications: Long-term untreated celiac sprue can rarely be associated with lymphomas of the bowel-these can be fatal (also can be treated, cured sometimes), increased risk for esophageal cancer (bad disease); other conditions associated which uncommonly can lead to complications. Recognized and treated celiac patients can live long, full, healthy lives.
