Many types: There are many types of neuropathy, many associated with other disorders. Just a few..Acute motor, subacute sensorimotor, asymmetric polyneuropathies, chronic sensorimotor polyneuropathies, inherited polyneuropathies of mixed sensorimotor types-idiopathic type, metabolic type, neuropathy with mitochondrial disease, relapsing polyneuropathy, mononeuropathy/plexopathy. Many causes: Beuropathy can be caused by poorly controlled diabetes. It can be caused by toxin and heavy metal exposure. Trauma (including surgical trauma) can also cause it.
