A member asked:

Can i begin taking 1 form of malaria medication and then switch to another after?

Sure: Sometimes one type of malaria preventive therapy has to be changed to another due to side effects. During treatment of vivax malaria also one medication (chloroquine) is used first - to kill the blood forms - then followed by Primaquine to eradicate the form in the liver that can cause relapses.
