Why do a lot of people who have hearing problem deny it?

Gradual issue: Most people with hearing loss develop the hearing loss very gradually. When something happens gradually they don't tend to notice it and the body compensates for it in many ways. For example, they may start lip reading and not even be aware of it. Then the tendency is to blame other people for "mumbling". I find the only people who use the word "mumble" are people with hearing loss.

Denial of deafness: Some people do deny their inability to hear, especially the ones losing hearing overtime. Best persons recognizing the loss are the immediate relatives living with. There is no point confronting them, as they may become defensive even get paranoid and angry. They should join deafness forum groups etc., to get to know their disability and deal with it.
