Yes: Any illness that mom experiences during pregnancy that has a "blood" phase (germs circulating in the blood) can pass that to baby. That includes std's(syphillis, aids), viruses like the flu, chickenpox& rubella. After the water breaks, the baby can acquire germs from mothers vaginal tract like group b strep.
