Indirectly: What i mean there is a disorder called celiac disease which does not allow the person to tolerate gluten. One of the symptoms is malabsorption and this can be manifested by diarrhea. Sometimes the only sign of celiac disease is iron deficiency. However, this is rare. One way to test for malabsorption of iron is checking a fasting carotene level. Hope this helps.
