A member asked:

Can a heavy menstrual period mean anything serious?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

At Times...: Heavy menstrual bleeding is one of the most common reasons for a gyn visit. Most are due to simple hormonal "imbalances" like pcos/anovulation. These are treatable with medications based on your plans for conceiving. But, other things may cause it as well: bleeding disorders, thyroid chanhes, weight changes, stress, medications, uterine/ov tumors or abnormal endometrial tisssue. Needs proper eval.
