Would there be any contraindications to having general anesthesia for someone with pots w/ near constant tachycardia even when lying down?

Cardiologist: I would get a cardiologist to review your heart and other health. They can assess your risks verses benefits with general anesthesia. They may want to be available in the hospital during your procedure and they may want to premeditate you to control your heart rate while it's happening.

The questions I have: Are, why are you tachycardic, how high does the rate get, what does your ekg look like, do you have an ischemic risk, and are you on meds. Your pod or cardiologist can help you answer these questions.

No.: We have fluids and meds to keep your blood pressure up and other meds to slow your heart rate. I hope that you are under the care of a physician familiar with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome and that increased fluid intake and meds have been tried. If not, its possible that other causes may need to be ruled out.

No, but: Any patient with a cardiac history will need special care during anesthesia. Talk to your anesthesiologist about your condition so a plan for your safety can be worked out.
