How effective are the surgeries to treat gerd? would i have to still take my nexium (esomeprazole) afterward?

Effective and Maybe: Fundoplication and vagotomy are effective at cutting down on reflux and excess acit. However, medications like Nexium (esomeprazole) have supplanted at least some of the need for it. If you keep on the nexium, (esomeprazole) you may not need it. Talk to your physician about the issue. You may still need to take the Nexium (esomeprazole) even if you have surgery.
