How can i improve my child's problem solving skills / memory?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Let them do it: Ask them to solve increasingly more difficult real-world problems; have them weigh a few options and pick their favorite; ask for their advice on something and ask how they arrived at that conclusion; ask them their opinions on various things and why they have those opinions.
