Up to 7 days: Most patients should be able to be relatively of headaches after an LP within about 48-72 hrs. In some cases it can last up to 7 days. If it goes beyond and is NO BETTER than it was immediately following the puncture then, you should report this to the doctor who performed the LP since this could be a red flag to a puncture wound which is now leaking and is not likely to heal without attention.
