I think if varies: I think it varies by the doctor. There are definitely some doctors that do not prescribe these medications enough. For example, about 7 years ago when the fda started warning about the risk of using antidepressants in kids, many docs stopped prescribing and suicides went up. However, there are definitely some docs that overprescribe too. It's important to also look at other non-med treatments.

Antidepressants: Yes, due to use of antidepressants off-label to treat other ailments besides depression, by health professionals other than mental health professionals, given to patients unable or not willing to be seen by mental health professionals due to added cost or stigma.
