Stop them, eval. why: Nosebleeds occur for a variety of reasons. In children, 90% of nose bleeds occur in the front near the nostrils, which is why pinching the nose helps stop it, since pressure is applied. In adults, it can also be posteriorly, so pinching helps in fewer cases. Lean head forward, not backward, so you do not swallow the blood. May need scope to evaluate for nasal mass and blood work to check if okay.

Nose bleeds: If your nose bleeds hold your nostrils between fingers for about 10 minutes. Sit up ; hold your head ; neck forward so the blood doesn’t just flow down your throat. If you are able to – place a moistened cotton ball over the area that is bleeding. If you can’t control the bleeding after 20 minutes – seek medical assistance.
