Lung functionimpairm: ARDS can cause lung scarring in its wake thereby causing an impairment in lung function after the patient recovers from the acute event.

May be some: ARDS frequently results in loss of normal lung function. Fortunately, most people recover enough to have normal activities of daily living be possible, but about 10% have significant impairment even after a year. We are also finding post-traumatic stress effects from critical illness.
