What can worried parents do about diabetic ketoacidosis in a 4 yr old?

DKA: Prevention is best. If the child has dka, make sure pediatric intensivists are caring for him/her. Slow steady rehydration is the best treatment in a pediatric icu. Children's hospitals are preferable.

Diabetes : If this is your introduction to diabetes then this is especially hard. Dka is completely reversible with insulin, fluids & electrolytes. Once the crisis is over you'll learn a lot about diabetes and how to take great care of your child. It will overwhelm at first so keep a notebook to write your questions. Stay in daily touch with diabetes educators for awhile after going home. It gets easier!
