How long can delirium due to alcohol withdrawal last?

A few days to months: It can start between 24 hours and 10 days after the last drink;it is a medical emergency ; some of the symptoms ( tremors, high blood pressure, anxiety etc ) can last a few days but some of the cognitive and emotional symptoms can last months..... If you have been drinking heavily and want to stop please at least seek advice from your treating md or do.

3-7 days: Typically it occurs on day 2-3 after stopping drinking, and then lasts 2-3 days, but in some cases can last weeks. In very sick alcoholics with other problems, like pneumonia, gastrointestinal bleeding, pancreatitis and other serious illnesses, it may last even longer.
