No: It can cause you to put on weight only if it also affects the ability of the thyroid to make hormones. Frequently, a thyroid goiter will have no affect on thyroid's function, in which case, it should not cause weight gain. See your doctor to have your thyroid function tested if you are worried.

If dysfunctional : A goiter is an enlarged thyroid gland and doesn't necessarily mean that the gland isn't properly working. Having thyroid function checked will help to answer the question.
