Should i go to the er for an elbow fracture or see the orthopedic doctor in the morning?

Pain?: Assuming the injury is closed (no break in the skin), you can apply ice and elevate the injured part as initial management. Certainly, if the pain worsens, or you develop numbness & tingling, you may opt to be seen in the er. Another consideration is how quickly you may be seen by the orthopedic doctor. Patients who are referred by the er may get scheduling priority.

Go now: If you have a fracture, it should be seen right away. If it is a minor fracture, the er will provide appropriate splinting and follow up information. An urgent care clinic is another option.
