Occasionally: Xolair which is an anti ige antibody is approved for treatment of moderate to severe asthma not controlled with standard therapy in allergic patients 12 years or older. There are reports of it use in chronic urticaria and it has been shown to be effective in several cases. It is not approved by the fda for chronic urticaria. I am not aware of it being useful in irritable bowel syndrome.

If caused by allergy: Xolair has been shown to be effective against chronic hives that won't respond to antihistamines. If your irritable bowel is caused by a food allergy or multiple food allergies, then that may get better when treated with Xolair. I have had 3 patients where this has happened.
