Alternate exercises: Congratulations on the weight loss! to spare hips & knees, try pool/water aerobics for excellent workout; water supports weight, so no impact on hip/knee joints. As you continue to lose weight, add walking to regimen. When you've reached bmi between 18 & 25 (ideal range) you can consider jogging or simply continue walking & pool aerobics.

WEIGHT LOSS IS: The most important parameter as far as that is concerned. We need to know your height and current weight to ''guesstimate'' how much more you need to go down. At 35 y/old, unless you suffer from other medical conditions, you should alternate walking/jogging a couple mins each, until you hit 20-30 mins. For starters.

No 1 answer for all: While some experts suggest a bmi < 35 for jogging, some people may do well higher than this & others may get problems at a lower bmi. A treadmill may be safer due to shock-absorbing surface & ability to use incline to lower impact forces. It also lets you do things like jog for 1 minute, walk for 4 x 20-30 min to see how your joints hold up. Key is to try progress slowly. Good luck!

Start Slowly!: Hey Oprah did it, right? So can you! I think you can start adding in intervals of jogging into your daily walks, perhaps just a block at a time at first, alternating between walking and running. Be sure to get a good pair of running shoes first, and a super supportive bra. Take it slowly at first, then gradually build. i'm thrilled to see you take such an active role in your health!
