Prevention : If your ancestors really had hearing loss that is hereditary, you may be affected. There are several syndromes- alport's, usher's, wardenburg, pendred etc. You need to see a geneticist to find out whether you carry any of these genes that may be responsible for these diseases. Otherwise you may have to have repeated hearing tests to look for hearing deficit.
