What are the differences between pneumonia and viral pneumonia?

Terminology: Pneumonia refers to a condition of the lung & is most often used to refer to bacterial infections in the lung. Viral pneumonia actually gives you the agent causing the abnormal condition. This terminology distinction is similar to saying brick house, rather than just house. Pneumonia can be caused by a variety of agents, so the more specific the description the better understood.

Subtype: Pneumonia is an infection of the lungs with a germ, which may be a bacteria, a fungus or a virus. So viral pneumonia is a specific kind of pneumonia.
