That depends.: In close consultation with your psychiatrist there would be a number of options. This would depend partly on why you are taking the zyprexa (olanzapine) and what you have tried. Some have success in diet and increase in physical activity, some have success with medications added in to decrease weight (topamax/metformin, sometimes a change to a different atypical antipsychotic may be necessary.

Zyprexa: Please consider asking your doctor about switching to another antipsychotic medication that does not have such a propensity to cause metabolic syndrome.
