Depends: This depends on what you are there for. For serious issues such as resp distress, chest pain, trauma, etc., you would be likely seen by the initial check in person and then a triage nurse would be called immediately to assess your condition and then brought back to the secere/critical area of the er. If you have a less severe issue, you would bench evoked in, triaged and then wait your turn.
