A member asked:

Is it best to keep a pressure sore dry and let it "breath" in the air or should i apply ointment on it and cover it up?

Sometimes: Although an escher may act as a biologic dressing most wounds will heal with better results if all necrotic tissue us derided and a moist clean dressing is regularly applied or a wound closure is surgically accomplished.

Keep it moist: Allowing it to dry out kills fibroblasts that help to heal the wound. Keep it wet with saline soaked gauze, or get a wound vac.
