A member asked:

Are all artificial sweeteners pretty much the same?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Mostly: Artificial sweeteners are chemicals designed to fit into the sweetness receptor of the tongue and mimic the taste of actual sugar. There are many variants, some naturally derived and some synthetic. The levels of chemical are quite low and while much has been made of the side effects, there is actually little to choose between them.
