See below: Most of the time, there are no serious problems, other than the uti. However, the child may develop sepsis, where the bacteria causing the UTI is in the blood stream. Sepsis can be dangerous. We recently had a 5 week old in our practice pass away from sepsis.

Kidney: Besides it being an infection it is important to find the reason for the infection. A test should've done to study the kiddies bladder ureter etc to see if there is a blockage or problem to prevent kidney damage in the future.
