Not a term I've ever: Heard. Dyslexia is a language-based learning disorder caused by a deficit in phonemic awareness, the processing of sound structure of language. 40% of children with dyslexia have an affected sibling or parent. Delays in language development, inability to rhyme or to make sound/symbol associations ("a as in apple") in preschoolers may predict reading disability in later grades.
