Testing?: Why were you testing his blood sugar, was he having symptoms? Blood glucose meters tend to be unreliable for low blood sugars. A blood glucose of 145 after having a sugar load is ok. If he is having symptoms of hypoglycemia, yes you should take him to a pediatrician.

Yes: 51 mg/dl is definitely a low blood sugar. The rebound higher number may be of concern. Please discuss with your doctor.
