If you have had a shoulder surgery such as a torn labrum years ago. is it necessary to see a specialist?

Depends: If you have had surgery with incomplete resolution of your symptoms, or a recurrence of your symptoms after a period of feeling well, i recommend you consult with a shoulder specialist. They will be best able to recommend a course of specific diagnostic testing or treatment. You are less likely to have unnecessary, frequently expensive testing that may have no impact on your management.

Maybe: Some procedures that were done for labral tears years ago are associated with arthritis later on and seeing a shoulder specialist may be a good idea if your shoulder is painful or limiting you. If your shoulder is pain free and you don't have any limits, it is unlikely that anything is wrong with it.
