Depends: It depends on the location of the ulcer, how large how bad and what type of shoes. Usually some type of off-loading is necessary for the ulcer, which would make normal shoe gear difficult to wear.

Assuming the ulcers: Are on the bottom of the foot, part of the treatment needs to be removing pressure from the ulcer(s), also known as offloading. Under some circumstances, something can be put into regular shoes with an accommodation, but if the ulcer(s) are big and bad enough, a more aggressive form of offloading is needed. This can range from a special surgical shoe to a total contact cast.

It depends.: You may need a special shoe. Have it evaluated and see what kind of offloading device is best for you.
