A member asked:

How should i clean my ear if i have otitis media?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Do not: A middle ear infection is an infection behind the ear drum. Therefore, cleaning the ear canal would do absolutely nothing. Furthermore, you should not be cleaning out your ear canal as you may injure the skin and cause another problem. A middle ear infection (otitis media) may be viral or bacterial. Otitis media, if that is truly the diagnosis, has nothing to do with the ear canal.
