Yes: Fortunately most routine staphylococcus infections are limited to the skin. However, once the bacteria moves beyond the skin to involve the blood, the infection can then spread almost anywhere including into bones. This condition is called osteomyelitis & generally requires expert evaluation for diagnosis & management. Individuals at particular risk for osteomyelitis include uncontrolled diabetics.
