Is it ok to travel with shingles?

Yes, but cover up: Shingles is re-activated chicken pox. Unlike chicken pox, it is only spread through direct contact. Keep your rash covered with bandages and clothing to avoid spreading it to others. It is often painful, discuss pain medication and your travel plans with your doctor. Now you can prevent shingles with a vaccine.

With precautions: If the vesicular lesions (small blisters) have dried, it is no longer contagious. If they are still wet but located in an unexposed area of skin, it should be fine. If still active, covering it and meticulous hand washing should prevent it from getting passed on. Especially watch for the immune compromised and infants less than a year old.
