Crusty vs raised skn: Impetigo is an infection of the upper layers of the skin that tends to have a crusty, thick scale or blister quality.Impetgo may weep a thin serum.Hives by themselves are bumps or raised patches of thickened skin with a darker coloration but no blister or crust. Hives represent allergic reactions.
