Immodium: Immodium is an excellent symptomatic treatment for diarrhea, only for diarrhea, and one should not use it if there is blood in your diarrhea. It will not help a stomach problem like vomiting from a stomach flu. You may drink alcohol, but this is not the best kind of liquid to take if your stomach is upset. Alcohol has a direct irritating affect on the stomach lining, also promotes bowel movements.

Maynot need Immodium: It depends on the cause of the diarrhea. If someone develop salmonellosis or infection caused by salmonella bacteria, just drinking fluids and eating simple, soft and bland diet might be enough. Having bloody diarrhea or any other complications or diarrhea lasting more than 3-4 days, needs medical attention from a physician.Thanks.
