A member asked:

Why do you get a fever when you get the flu?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Response to virus: Fever is a symptom and reaction of the body to try and eliminate the infection. I view it as raising the thermostat to overheat the body and "cook it out". Too high fever (105-106) can actually be counter productive so him fevers need to be reduced.
