Hard to say.: One cannot easily do studies to measure this but it seems like perhaps a third or so of those bitten will get rabies if nothing is done. Higher risk when bitten on the face by the rabid dog. Of course, the risk of getting rabies is zero if the dog doesn't have it.

Depends: The situation is more high risk in a dog that is acting strangely/ aggressively and the attack is unprovoked.
