A member asked:

Can someone black out a memory of being sexually abused long ago?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

YES: We humans have a remarkable ability to put painful memories in a "vault" in our mind. This does , unfortunately , have a bad habit of hurting us later in life.We drink, risk take, use drugs and a host of other bad actions to deal with the trauma of that abuse.Recommend a mental health professional to help with this issue.
