A member asked:

Is chocolate a dangerous food obsession?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

"God food": Chocolate comes from the seeds of the theobroma cacao tree. A lot of people develop cravings for it, but probably not true obsessions. Obsessions, in the technical psychiatric sense, are recurrent and persistent thoughts (impulses, images), that are intrusive and inappropriate, and cause a lot of anxiety or distress. These thoughts are not simply about real-life problems like craving chocolate.
