Not as strong: Topicort is a topical steroid cream. It is what we consider, depending on the concentration, a moderate potency steroid cream. You could purchase a Hydrocortisone 1 % over the counter but it will not be as efficacious as your topicort. Find out if your dr has any samples available, or co-pay cards to reduce the price of the topicort. So yes, you can try the hydrocortisone, but it may not work.
