A member asked:

What could be the cause of persistent ringing in my ears?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Lots of things...: Tinnitus or ringing of the ears is a tough diagnosis. It certainly can be from exposure to loud noises, wax impactions, fluid in the middle ear and the side affect of many medications. Rarely it can be caused by something more serious like a tumor pressing against the cochlear nerve. Anything that can cause hearing loss also can cause tinnitus. It is a common complaint but tough to fix.
