A member asked:

What happens to a person when his or her heart rate increases?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Probably nothing: An increase in your heart rate is a normal physiological response to stress or exercise ("fight or flight" reflex), and isn't necessarily indicative of any particular abnormality. An increase in heart rate is one way that your body increases your cardiac output. Fast heart rates associated with abnormal rhythms may produce symptoms and may be a sign of a heart problem.
