Filovirus family: Marburg is a form of viral hemorrhagic fever in the same class as its more famous relative ebola fever but way less common. It was originally described in marburg, germany relative to transmission from african monkeys.

Hemorrhagic Fever: Marburg Virus is very much like Ebola virus. Both cause severe hemorrhagic fevers in humans and are viruses from the Filoviridae family. They both have a similar clinical presentation. The fatality rate from Marburg virus outbreaks has been from 24 to 88%.
