Several poss. causes: Skipping the jokes: buttock pain can result from muscle strain, tendon injury, lumbar or sciatic nerve injury or impingement (ex. Disc herniation), over-tightened muscles (ex. Pyriformis syndrome), sacroiliac injury, sacrotuberous ligament injury, and many more. A good physical, including an osteopathic hands-on exam, can help determine the cause; manipulation is often the treatment of choice.
